Near the recreation area is Estonia's thickest (1.3 meters in height, circumference 8.5 meters) and oldest tree.

In 1998, the tree's age was measured with an increment borer to be 680 years old.




Uhtjärv in the Urvaste Primeval Valley

With abundant ravines Urvaste ürgorg The primeval valley of Urvaste traverses the landscape for 10 kilometers in a northwest-southeast direction. The valley represents one of the 30 places worth discovering in Southern Estonia, marked with a yellow window by National Geographic.

In the valley, there are numerous springs, including the fifth deepest lake in Estonia - Uhtjärv (28 m).

The three-kilometer-long lake is rich in fish and is suitable for kayaking, boating, or canoeing.

The recreation area features a picnic area, a small sandy beach, and a swimming spot.


Hinni Canyon

Nursi küla, Rõuge vald, Võrumaa. Object number 16 on the nature park map. Hinni Canyon is a 15-20 meter deep ravine. This magnificent Devonian sandstone natural monument is unique in Estonia due to its depth. There are no other known deep sandstone canyons in the country. The canyon is approximately 200 meters long, with a width of 6-10 meters upstream, rapidly narrowing to 3 meters wide. The canyon is adorned with fallen trees crisscrossing its path and a small spring cave. According to local folklore, the spring water has healing and rejuvenating properties. To access the narrow and steep-sided canyon, a boardwalk and stairs have been constructed.
